Start of the Wet Season is here

The rains are coming,” The rains are coming Marge.”

The Pioneer River has started to flow after the rain we’ve had over the last week. We haven’t had a big down pour, it has been just 1 or 2 inches here and there. Not much at all in town, but the river has a flow in it and Darryl and I had to go and try it out the afternoon after work.

Dumbleton Rocks is about 200 meters down stream from Dumbleton Weir. There is only one rapid about 100 meters long. It would be classed as a grade 2 rapid up to grade 3 when the river is higher. I like this rapid for learning and practicing skills and the best part it is only ten minutes drive out of Mackay.  There is plenty of places to practice breaking in and out of the rapid, a good wave to try out surfing skills and a narrow section you  really have work at to catch the eddies, and then there is a good stopper at the bottom that Darryl had fun in today.

Good to see some running water again.

It wouldn’t take many guesses.

We were wondering if you were peeing upstream to try to raise the water level Rod. Did you end up back at Dumbleton?

Yes, Looking at it doesn’t seem to help, so I drove back to Dumbleton and had a play there for awhile.
